Despite its name, Texas cedarwood comes from a juniper rather than a true cedar. Its dense, smoky oil is naturally rich in cedrol, enough that waxy crystals known historically as “cedarwax” can form as the oil stands. Dry, resinous and reminiscent of freshly cut pencil shavings, it brings a grounding woody depth to aromatic blends.
